Fides School of Theology officially started in the diocese of Awka on the 28th of February 2015, through the efforts of Msgr. Jerome Madueke, as a necessary response of the Catholic Bishop of Awka, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor to the call of Pope John Paul II for the New Era of Evangelisation in Nigeria. The school initially started at the Fides Media House at Okpuno, but was later moved to St. Patrick's Cathedral Awka.
With the approval of His Lordship and the School Board, in 2022, the name of the school was adjusted to Fides School of Theology and Evangelisation (FSTE). The first one-year course on the “Leadership for the New Evangelisation” kicked off on the February 19th, 2022.
The programme is meant for the laity, and for all categories of the Christian faithful. We offer three levels of academic certification:
Awarded after completing the first year programme on Leadership for the New Evangelisation.
Acquired after completing the second year course on Theology.
Issued after completing the four-year course in Theology.

To train the faithful to the knowledge, love and service of God, in order to attain salvation.
To foster in the faithful, the awareness of the knowledge and the understanding of the unity of all truth, natural and revealed, in the one God, Son, and Holy Spirit.
To strengthen mastery of the necessary skills needed for effective communication and the proclamation of the good news of God's kingdom.
To train the faithful to understand the dignity of the human person and the sanctity of human life.
To bring to greater competence those who are capable of making hard choices, sacrificing their time, resources, and energy to the mission of nation-building for the good of others and the nation.
To arm those fully committed to the mission of evangelisation with leadership formation and experiences that prepare them properly to take their rightful places as leaders in their vocations and careers.
To empower the faithful to engage fruitfully in dialogue with others for the common mission of inculturation of the Gospel, reclaiming a culture that fosters human dignity and reversing troubling trends in society.

Secularism, an offshoot of the heresy of modernism, is our major challenge. This has led to the destruction of morals and the distancing of creative reason (Culture) from Faith. This is the problem of our modern society today.
Secularism is equally behind the present surge in neo-paganism that has threatened the faith in our clime. Many young people are fast going back to pagan practices abandoned by our fore-fathers for the Christian faith.
The high presence of corruption in Nigeria means that there has not been any meaningful development in the social indices of the society. Hence, there is a need to bring about the rebirth of the culture through the implanting of the Gospel values of truth and love into the culture, including politics, education, Science and Technology, Religion, commerce and industry, health, entertainment, etc.
